The Ten Commandments of God (Exodus 20:1-17) God gave the Ten Commandments to the prophet Moses on Mount Sinai. They are recorded in the Holy Scripture of the Old Testament. The commandments regulate people's attitude towards God and their fellow human beings. And when the LORD had finished speaking to Moses on mount Sinai, he gave him the two tables of the law; they were made of stone and described by the finger of God. (Exodus 31:18) 1 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of slavery. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. I am the Lord your God. You shall not have other gods before me. You should believe in one God. 2 You shall not make for yourself any graven image, or any likeness, of anything in heaven above, or of anything in the earth below, or of anything in the water under the earth: worship them neither, nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments . You shall not use the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes his name in vain. You shall not dishonor the name of God. [Note: The biblical 2nd commandment was deleted and replaced with the 3rd commandment, which affects the further counting] 3 You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes his name in vain. You shall sanctify the holiday. You shall sanctify the day of the Lord. [Note: Read about changing the 4th Commandment 4 Remember the Sabbath day and sanctify it. Six days you shall labor and do all your works. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God. There you shall not do any work, nor your son, your daughter, your manservant, your maidservant, your livestock, nor your stranger who lives in your city. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and sanctified it. You shall honor your father and your mother, so that it may go well with you and that you may live long on earth. You shall honor your father and mother, so that you may live long and prosper on earth. 5 Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you. You should not kill. You should not kill. 6 Thou shalt not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not practice unchastity. 7 You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not steal. 8 Thou shalt not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not bear false witness. 9 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. 10 You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, manservant, maidservant, ox, donkey, or anything that your neighbor has. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, manservant, maidservant, livestock, or anything that is his. You shall not covet your neighbor's goods.
Blessed be God, praise be to Him, according to the number of His creatures, and His pleasure, and the weight of His throne, and the ink of His words, amen.
